Mr. King has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in mental health
CHEYENNE, WY, January 10, 2023 — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gary R. King, MS, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. King celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leading a fulfilling career in mental health for more than two decades, Mr. King is a licensed addiction counselor and licensed professional counselor who joined Specialty Counseling and Consulting LLC in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2015. In addition to conducting substance abuse evaluations and treating patients, he has also since been promoted to the role of substance abuse program manager in 2018. In this capacity, Mr. King is responsible for overseeing treatment programs, training clinicians and interns, and supervising staff members.
Excelling in his field, Mr. King focuses on the mental health of his patients, as well as their substance abuse recovery. A compassionate counselor who truly understands what patients are going through, he is admittedly a former poly-addict, which is a technical term for someone with an addiction to multiple substances. Having been in treatment five times, Mr. King, too, had to work very hard to overcome his addictions. Looking toward the future, Mr. King intends to remain invested in his management role and continue helping the recovering community to heal.
Beginning his career in the mental health sector in 2000, Mr. King was a residential staff member for inpatient substance abuse treatment at Southwest Counseling Service in Rock Springs, Wyoming, until 2003. Mr. King subsequently treated patients suffering from substance and mental health issues at Capstone Counseling and Recovery in Laramie, Wyoming, from 2007 to 2012, and was a substance abuse and mental health counselor at Southwest Wyoming Recovery Access Programs between 2012 and 2015.
Mr. King possesses an Associate of Arts with a focus in psychology from Western Wyoming Community College. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in gender and women’s studies, and a Master of Science in counseling and community mental health counseling from the University of Wyoming. Additionally, Mr. King received credentials as a licensed professional counselor and licensed addiction counselor.
Having remained a figure in his professional community, Mr. King is a respected associate member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
